1. Create A Social Content Plan
Just like everything in business, it’s important to create a clear plan for social media. This allows you to tactically plan your messages around upcoming events, offers and attractions and will allow you to avoid any social mistakes in advance. Get your Social Content Template here.
2. Engage With Your Audience
It might involve staring at a screen but social media is designed to be just that – social! Competitions, exclusive offers and open conversation posts are a great way to engage and converse with your audience, as well as responding, liking and retweeting user generated content that relates to your venue.
3. Vary Your Messages
When it comes to posting on social media, make sure that you vary your messages. There’s nothing worse than seeing the same post over and over again, and this can quickly result in customers losing interest. A good way to avoid this is to make a list of your venues USP’s and rotate these in your social content plan.
4. Use Plenty Of Visuals
Make sure your content is eye-catching! Posts including a photo album, a picture or a video generate about 180%, 120% and 100% more engagement than the average post respectively. Don’t be afraid to experiment with Gif’s and graphics too.
5. Keep It Relevant
Posts about top-of-the-mind topics such as current events holidays, or news will always receive higher engagement levels. Posts mentioning Bank Holidays (on relevant days) for example will receive about 80% more engagement than all posts published on that day.
6. Be Concise
Posts between 100 and 250 characters (less than three lines of text) see about 60% more likes, comments and shares than posts greater than 250 characters.
7. Give A Clear Call To Action
As well as ensuring you have utilised the call to action function in your Facebook cover photo, it’s always good to give your social posts some direction. By adding a link you can give your audience the opportunity to find more information about the topic of your post quickly and easily (whether it’s a special offer, a local event, a blog or website page) contact details can be used too, however these are much harder to track.
8. Be Positive
This sounds like a no brainer but always make sure your posts are positive, inspiring and engaging!
9. Maintain Your Brand Identity
Always make sure that the tone, style and imagery of everything you post, like, comment and share through your company profile is in line with its brand identity. The best levels of engagement are always received by brands with a clear identity behind their page, a personality in posts that fans can recognise and relate to, consistent across all platforms.
